The news came on air early yesterday when Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State rain courses on all aspirants saying those that are planning to take power from me through the back door will die’). Today Thompson Essien has hit back on the Governor. Contd reading below:
I
have said it before, and let me repeat it here; all that swearing,
cursing, and threats spewed out by Akpabio are manifestations of fear
and insecurity. Akpabio knows much better than anyone else that he has
lost Akwa Ibom State to those whom in his warped mind are considered his
enemies.
If
what took place at the just concluded launching of Uyioikpasong Ibibio
are indications of true perceptions of the people about Akpabio, where
Akpabio’s and Udom Emmanuel’s representatives at the event were booed
and shouted at, then it is safe to say that Akpabio has lost the respect
of the people. The people now see him as a hindrance to their economic,
political, cultural, and educational progress, as such, they can’t wait
to see him go.
Wherever
he goes, Akpabio likes to talk about killing his opponents. I don’t
know if this behavior is due to the millions of naira that he carries
around in his car wherever he goes, or if it is due to the false sense
of thugs and touts that surround him that make Akpabio really to assume
that he is immortal, who can never be killed and who will never die. But
Goliath held on to the same assumption. Abacha held on to the same
assumption. Hitler, too, held on to the same assumption.
Goliath
was killed in minutes, with a stone. Abacha died within seconds from
the hands of God (or was it from Satan’s hand?). It took a few seconds
for Hitler to pull the trigger that emptied the bullets from his own gun
into his brain—he died immediately—in seconds.
Before
their deaths, Goliath killed several people at the war front. Abacha
killed a few of his political opponents. Hitler killed millions. The
truth is, none of them lived forever in the world and all of them died
in ignoble ways, which is how Akpabio will die.
Akpabio
has assassinated many—Paul Inyang, Albert Ukpanah, Imo Udonwa (just to
name three). Akpabio has kidnapped many—Mrs. Comfort Ewang, General
Akpan, Nelson Effiong (to mention only three). The blood of all the dead
and the cries and the tears of all those who were kidnapped and stuffed
inside the trunk of cars like goats, will not fail to rise up one day
and stand in judgment with Godswill Akpabio.
No
one knows tomorrow; today, Akpabio is thumbing his chest in arrogance
and issuing death threats to potential political aspirants. Tomorrow,
others may threaten him with vengeance and without mercy. Such is life!
