A Kado Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Thursday sentenced a 33-year-old man, Solomon Adesola, to two months imprisonment for reckless driving.
Adesola, who resides at No. 23, Aransu Olu Agege St., Lagos, had pleaded guilty to the charges and begged for leniency.
The Presiding Judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, did not give him option of fine, adding that it would serve as a deterrent to those who do not obey traffic rules.
Earlier, while reviewing the facts of the case, prosecutor, Cpl. Simon Emmanuel of Life Camp Police Station, Abuja, told the court that the convict was arrested on April 24.
He said that the driver drove a Toyota Hiace bus recklessly along Airport Road by Citec Mbora Estate Jabi, Abuja.
Emmanuel said that the driver drove so recklessly that he almost knock down a police officer attached to a check point.
He said during police investigation, the convict confessed to the crime, saying that he was in a hurry.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 28 and 29 of the Road Traffic Act. (NAN)
