Akwa Ibom State Governor Udom
Emmanuel has solicited the partnership of his Abia State counterpart
Okezie Ikepazu in tackling the menace of bad interstate road network
which has hampered economic activities between the two States.
Governor Emmanuel who made the request while interacting with the
Abia State Governor Okezie
Ikepazu at the Government House, Uyo observed
that the two States are closely knitted geographically as boarder
communities with age-long cultural affinity occasioned by trade and
marriage.
He said the poor state of the road has severed economic ties between
the two States noting that a journey between the two States which used
to take twenty to fifty minutes is now running into hours.
Governor Emmanuel pointed out that economic cooperation under Public
Private Partnership -PPP between Abia and Akwa Ibom state will boast the
economic fortunes of the two states and emphasized that this can only
be achieved when the interstate road is rehabilitated.
Earlier, Governor Ikepazu said that he used the occasion of his visit
to the state for a book lunch of the President South South and South
East of Seventh Day Adventist Church Pastor Bassey Udoh, to also visit
the state governor to enable him express solidarity over the Election
Petition Tribunal verdict. He advised the Governor not to be shaken as
the will of God has prevailed in the case.
Pastor Bassey who presented the book titled “This is Your Season” to
Governor Emmanuel, explained that the book is a soft sale and that it
encapsulates the struggle of man towards achieving his greatness in line
with the Dakkada philosophy.
