Ambode who was declared winner with 3,735 votes won by a landslide as
the current Commissioner for Works, Obafemi Hamzat , who came second,
got 1,201 votes, less than half of Ambode’s votes.
Ambode, while speaking with journalists after being announced as the winner said he was the only aspirant that visited all the 20 local government areas of the state.
He said, “I won because I visited all the 20 local governments to consult with the people at the grassroots and this is the result that you are seeing.”
While delivering his victory speech to scores of supporters at the venue, Ambode congratulated all other aspirants and urged them to set aside their personal ambitions for the progress of the party and the state.
